Transportation is a key factor for any major metropolitan area, especially for a place like Bangkok, which experiences a considerable amount of foreign traffic. As such, travellers through the city are always keeping their ear to the ground for traffic and transportation news.
For those looking for a free shuttle service in Bangkok to and from the airports, there’s one for travelling between Don Mueang Airport (DMK) and Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). On other related news, the BMTA has set up a new bus route, the S1, which travels to and from Bangkok’s two airports, since everyone either can’t or don’t want to spend the money for an airport cab.
The new shuttles have hit the road, with some handling travel between the Suvarnabhumi Airport and Khaosan Road, Bangkok’s backpacker centre. These new additions means that there are at least six BMTA run shuttles serving travellers in Bangkok, alongside other transportation methods.
There are three types of shuttles, with a public, air-conditioned shuttle catered for the more day-to-day type of travel, the Airport Limo Bus Express, which is a more expensive, but more comfortable way to travel, the last, a free shuttle service in Bangkok that covers transportation between its two airports.
The former are 35-seat, orange buses, which operate in five routes, which travels through various locations through Bangkok and its two airports. This is the one thatis operated by the BMTA, and will be familiar to Bangkok locals due to the same model of bus, being used for other routes throughout the city. The primary draw of this service is its affordability, with prices hovering around the 50 Bt range. However, the frequency of its stops might be an issue for rushing travellers.
The Air-Conditioned Public Shuttles’ routes are:
- S1 Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) – Khaosan Road – SanamLuang
- A1 Don Mueang Airport (DMK) – BTS Mo Chit – Bangkok Bus Terminal (Mo Chit Terminal)
- A2 Don Mueang Airport (DMK) – Victory Monument
- A3 Don Mueang Airport (DMK) – Pratunam – Lumphini Park
- A4 Don Mueang Airport (DMK) – Khaosan Road – SanamLuang
Another new service is the Airport Limo Bus Express, which is a more comfortable, but expensive option. With free on-board Wi-Fi and an online booking service, this service is for those who want a more luxurious option. This service, however, only departs from Don Mueang Airport.
This service only has two routes:
- Khaosan Route
- MRT Si Lom Route
The last option is only for those travelling between the two airports. This one is a free shuttle service in Bangkok, on an air-conditioned shuttle. All that’s needed for travel is proof of flight booking.
